John Doyle - Managing Director
- Founder of Benetel in 2001
- 25 years’ experience in Wireless Product R&D, with GEC UK, Telectron /AT&T / Lucent Technologies Ireland, UK & Germany and Benetel .
- At Lucent led and managed RF Design Teams, Modem Design Team, Systems Engineering Team, Mechanical Design Team and Advanced Engineering Team
- Lucent representative for standardisation of GSM and 3G air interface within ETSI, defining of GPRS, EDGE, Location Based Services and UMTS.
- Member of IEEE
- Chair of WiSen-Ireland 2007 - 2009 .
- Products designed, successfully launched and deployed in volume include Microwave Radio Systems, Multiplex system channel cards, GSM Basestations, UMTS Basestations & User Equipment, CDMA 2000 basestations and repeaters, Automotive Radar systems, Ultra Wideband Radio System
- Several patents in application related to Microwave Imaging Systems and Wireless Sensor Networks.
Padraig McNamara - Design & Development Director
- Co-founder of Benetel in 2001.
- 18 year career at KENWOOD, Japan, as part of their Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) RF design team as well as with Motorola (UK) and Lucent (Dublin) designing GSM & 3G UMTS Base Stations.
- Prior to joining Benetel, Padraig held a senior engineering position designing Cable Modems & Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS) for COM 21 in Cork.
- Padraig’s expertise spans RF systems, RF circuits and designing for volume mass production. His design successes range from VHF & UHF PMR radios, GSM &3G base stations, cable modems to GPS Modules.
Pat O'Halloran - ATE Test Systems Director
- Co-founder of Benetel in 2001
- Patrick joined AT&T (Ireland) in 1988 as a Technician in the R&D group. This group designed a Multiple Access Radio System (MAR) to provide Telephony services to rural areas in developing countries. During this project automation of the RF Design Verification was introduced.
- The team’s next project was a Video on Demand system. Test automation was a key feature to the successful delivery of this design. During this design Patrick introduced LabVIEW and TestStand to AT&T to enable more efficient design of the Automated Test Systems.
- With the formation of Lucent Technologies, Patrick worked on Lucent’s development of GSM and UMTS Base stations in Swindon UK. Patrick led a team of 10 engineers in the development of Lucent’s ATE for compliance testing of the Base stations. This team was based in UK, Ireland and Germany. This process of developing ATE systems was also applied to the manufacturing test systems.
Dr Stephen Seawright - Commerical Director
- Joined Benetel in October 2009
- Prior to Benetel Stephen was founder and managing director of TDK Electronics Ireland Ltd, part of TDK Corporation of Japan. He had General Management responsibility for offices in Dublin and Belfast with staff numbers of 45 covering the functions of technical marketing, product development and R&D. Annual sales from this activity were in the region of €40 million.
- In a 10 year period TDK Electronics Ireland filed 40 patent applications. Of these applications only one has been rejected, 23 have been granted so far and 16 are pending.
- Established TDK USA R&D centre in 2001 and branch office in Israel in 2007 to expand wireless product business
- Member of Queen’s University of Belfast ECIT Industrial Advisory Board
- 2005-08, member of Berkeley Actuator and Sensor Consortium Advisory Board
- Prior to 1999 held various technical and commercial positions for TDK Corporation in Japan and Germany
- Stephen hold a PhD and BEng (Hons) in electrical and electronic engineering from The Queen’s University of Belfast (UK) and is a Chartered Engineer.
John O'Shea - Non-Executive Chairman
- CEO of Zamano plc, an AIM and IEX-listed company which specialises in mobile data services, and is active in the UK, USA, Ireland, Australia and Spain.
- Managed revenue growth from €1.4M in 2003 to €41.4M in 2008.
- Prior to joining Zamano in 2002, built a web development company from sales of €300K in 1997 to nearly €3M in 2000, at which point the company was sold to Horizon Technology Group for €10M.
- Electronics Engineer who joined Siemens in Munich upon graduating in 1985. He then joined RF world leader Rohde & Schwarz in 1989 as a sales engineer, supporting markets in Africa and Asia. He became a product manager in AT&T Network Systems, focused on radio telephony products for the developing world.
